3 October 2010 – Pennington Archers
Open Shoot
Report by Janet Ridal
Well I suppose it is the Lake District and you do expect some rain but “Oh Dear”, what a week we’d had! It was sort of nonstop rain with heavy showers, so much so that we had to change the course, or we would have been borrowing boats off Lake Windermere.
On the day the weather forecast did say that it would clear up at 10am, or maybe 11, even perhaps 12 but it did finally clear up after lunch to a wonderful sunny afternoon and we did the final presentation in lovely warm sunshine surrounded by glorious autumn tints on the trees and bracken.
Fortunately we had erected our parachute for a bit of cover and Mike had sawn some trees trunks up for seats so there was a relatively comfortable area for archers to sit.
A big “Thank you” must go to the small but appreciative band of archers that turned up on the day to shoot. I hope you have finally dried out.
Also big “Thank You” to Terry for leading the course setting, Andy and Ria for the catering and all the club members that helped in any way to make the “Pennington” welcome the best in the west.
We look forward to welcoming a larger number of archers at our open shoots next year, starting on 3 April. Please check our website www.penningtonarchers.com for all details.
